Dead Good Film Club – I Shot Bi Kidude

9 May @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm
£3

Join us for a very special outdoor screening and discussion as part of the Afterlives Festival and The Late Shows — under the stars with the unique Wayfaring Cinema. I Shot Bi Kidude is a personal journey about the fragility of life, agency, aging and death from film maker and funeral celebrant Andy Jones who will join us for a pre-film discussion.

8pm – 9pm pre-screening event & conversation,

9pm –10:30pm film screening

“The documentary speaks about Kidude’s personal liberation – she was after all an African woman who had no children, and whose art has always been exploited. The story turns into a report of an aging and lonely woman, whose only happiness is music.” Maysa Monção, Dirty Movies

Film has a unique power to open up the conversations we find hardest to have. Add food, a fire, fresh air and great company, and the Dead Good Film Club creates a truly unforgettable space to explore those conversations together — with curiosity, humour and honesty.

The Wayfaring Cinema is a mobile outdoor cinema that will be parked up near Newcastle City Library, outside the Laing Art Gallery for the evening, complete with bookable deckchairs and a fire to keep you warm.

Can’t book a deckchair? Bring your own seat and watch for free! Everyone is welcome.

The Dead Good Film Club brings people together around carefully chosen films to spark honest, fascinating conversations about death and dying – topics that are all too often considered off-limits.
