Ten Years of GALA – Global Tour

Friends everywhere, fix your seats and fasten those belts. Over the next 300+ days – to properly chalk 10 on the board – we are taking GALA all the way around the world.

With butterflies in our tummies and SPF50 in our bags, we’ll be touching down in the cities that have shaped GALA’s sound and taking residence on dancefloors that inspire us – all in the company of some globetrotter DJs you will have absolutely no trouble recognising.__

On Friday 24th January, our global club tour kicks off in iconic Newcastle venue World Headquarters with one of the planet’s foremost partystarters DJ EZ. It’s a pretty niche piece of GALA trivia that the earliest roots of the festival can be traced back to Newcastle, with both founders cutting their teeth in the toon as student promoters. Without these formative years flyering the city’s streets together for 20+ hours a week, GALA would never have come to exist. We owe so much to this beautiful city and the chance to return in these circumstances is truly a dream come true.

Holding back more teary eyed nostalgia to shine our light on a peerless DJ who makes the building shake every time he so even grazes a CDJ. Sheltering in the doorway when EZ is operating the controls is simply not an option though with his ability to command a dance floor arguably second to no other. Just ask any of the 5,000 or so dancers who were swept up by the UK garage legends seismic selections and technical prowess whilst closing the GALA main stage last summer.
