Vincent Kompany briefly worked with the highly-rated coach at Anderlecht and now he wants to reunite with him after taking over at the Bundesliga giants.

Boro will demand compensation to let Danks go, a figure that has not yet been met, but they have already identified a replacement.

They have made an official approach to Premier League side Newcastle United for Graeme.

And SunSport understands they have received the green light to begin official talks for the siblings to link up at the Riverside.

Graeme is currently youth team coach at Newcastle and guided their Under-18s to an eighth place finish in the academy Premier League North last term.

Just like Michael, he too is a graduate of the famed Wallsend Boys Club and grew up on Tyneside.

They were both signed as players by West Ham as youngsters but Graeme was unable to follow in his brother’s footsteps and break into the first-team.

However, he embarked on a coaching career that led to him working for the Football Association in various roles for 15 years.

After a brief stint as United caretaker boss, he took over Middlesbrough in October 2022 for his first job in management.

Boro were deep in relegation trouble when he arrived as they sat 21st in the table, but he produced an instant transformation and led them to the play-offs.

He followed that up by guiding them to the Carabao Cup semi-final last season, although they missed out on the play-offs by four points.

A host of Premier League teams have been linked with a swoop for him over recent months, but he ended speculation over his future this month.

He penned a new three-year contract and said: “I’m really happy about it. I’ve always been quite calm about it.

“I think having that attachment, that trust and that belief within the club is really important.

“It feels like a big step as a headline, as a statement, but really it doesn’t change anything I do or how I approach it, it just carries on what we’re trying to achieve.”

He has also wasted no time in the transfer market, snapping up Luke Ayling on a free from Leeds after his impressive loan spell from January.
