Boxers compete against each other in a ring (which can vary in size), and box for a number of ’rounds’ (which can vary in number and duration, usually dependent on experience). Boxers use offensive and defensive techniques with the aim of hitting their opponent without getting hit back, and boxing is governed by a series of rules, called the ‘Marquess of Queensbury Rules’, which instill fairness into the sport.
