Join the NCT Volunteer Movement: Empowering Parents in Newcastle

As one of the UK’s largest parenting charities, the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) relies on over 4,500 volunteers each year to support thousands of people as they become parents. NCT is now appealing for volunteers to support new and expectant parents in it’s continuously growing Newcastle branch.

The charity has recently developed a new team of volunteer community builders and is also offering exciting opportunities for volunteers to come onboard alongside these roles in its mission to build a community for parents in the local area.

NCT Newcastle currently needs volunteers to help set up and run local Walk & Talk groups in order to provide safe, welcoming spaces for new and expectant parents to meet and come together. As well as setting up and running these walk and talk events, volunteers can also be involved from home by helping out with activities such as social media and volunteer recruitment.

Tony Woods, NCT Volunteer Community Builder for Newcastle said: “Our volunteers provide a much-needed support network in their local community, and we would love to be able to start more groups in Newcastle.

“We welcome anyone who is passionate about making a difference to parents. Volunteering provides an excellent opportunity to use and develop your skills and experience but it’s also a great way of making friends and having fun. Giving just two hours a month can make a real difference.”

Volunteering with NCT is for everyone, not just parents. Anyone interested in supporting local families can contact NCT’s friendly Volunteering Team by emailing volunteering@nct.org.uk or by visiting: https://www.nct.org.uk/get-involved/volunteering.
